BOYS:
4 X 800: In what was one of
the best races in Section 10 in the 3200-meter relay in a very
long time. Two of the fastest times run in Indoor for
Section 10 in the last few years. It was a battle between
South Jefferson and Canton the whole race with Gouverneur
falling off the pace after the first leg. Canton's Brandon
Kenny passed South Jefferson's David Porter in the last 100
meters to claim victory for Canton. Canton ran an
impressive time of 8:28.5 and South Jefferson close behind in
8:29.8
55: JJ Peterson once again
has claimed victory in the 55 meter dash
with a time of 6.6 seconds besting rest of the field. The
battle for 2nd-4th was made obvious that it would between Zach
Leffler, Zach Ferris, and Joe Pomainville. Those three
battled the whole way and when they crossed the finish line, the
order shown above was how they finished.
55 Hurdles: JJ Peterson receives his second gold
medal of the night by running 8.4 seconds. Bobby Gay with
a late surge over the last hurdle makes a big separation from
the remaining part of the field to claim second place with a
time of 8.6 seconds.
1600: Dan Prahl runs
comfortably enough, but still put a big enough effort in to show
he is the person to beat by winning in a time of 4:40.6
Freshman Zach Ornelas, who had a fever finished next in 4:50.8
Next was Joe Beaudette. Fourth through Sixth was a battle
of speed with Lynde Scott taking 4th followed by Jordan Terpstra
and Ryan Sanders.
600: Norwood-Norfolk's Gino
Bisceglia proves that he has what it takes to compete at a high
level of competition by running his first 400 meters in 53
seconds and than dying to a 30 for the last 200, but ending with
a time of 1:23.3 This time beats the 20 year old mark of
1:23.4 held by a Norwood-Norfolk alum Steve McDonald back in
1986.
300: Mike Colby runs a 36.9
to easily run away from rest of the field with Cory Roberts of
Indian River finishing second place in 38.4 seconds.
1000: The race unfolded to
where Lynde Scott of Potsdam and Canton's Brandon Kenny had
pulled away from rest of the field. Kenny took the lead
with about 100 meters to go and really picked up the pace to an
all out sprint, Lynde pulled right up next to him and for 90
meters each runner gave it their all and Kenny just out leans
Scott. Both finish in a time of 2:44.9
3200: Dan Prahl runs away
from the field with no problem, but comes nowhere nears his
9:23.1 due to saving energy for the next race, the 4 x 400
relay.
4 X 400: In the most exciting
relay of the night five teams were all ranked within four
seconds of each other. These teams were Norwood, Canton,
Malone, South Jefferson, and Gouverneur. With the relay
starting Gouverneur's Charlie Saidel gets off to a early lead
and leads the whole first leg. He fades and him and Malone
hand off at the same time. Malone takes a quick lead over
Gouverneur, but Brandon LaVack surges past and runs a split of
54.9 to open the lead back up for Gouverneur. The third
leg Gouverneur keeps the lead and on the last hand off
Gouverneur takes off. Norwood's anchor leg is Gino and he
runs a sub 52 split to easily take them from 3rd to 1st and win
in a time of 3:38.1 The battle now stands for second
between Jordan Terpstra and Jon Marlowe. Marlowe gets a
lead and down the last 55 meters Terpstra tries to pass on the
left and steps outside of boundaries and bumps into Marlowe.
Both of which cause a DQ for Gouverneur causing their 3:40.1 to
not count and their second place finish to be wiped.
4 X 200: The same group of
Norwood runners from the 4x4 (Gino, Bobby, Randy and Phil) come
back less than 20 minutes later to win this event in a time of
1:36.9
Long Jump: Cory Roberts wins
the Long Jump by half of an inch over Mike Colby. Both go
over 21 feet. Anthony Rowley takes third.
Triple Jump: Mike picks up
his second win of the night by winning over Cory Roberts.
Tupper Lake's LaMere takes 3rd with Smith taking 4th.
High Jump: Indian River's Anthony
Rowley clears 6 feet. Matt Levac clears highest jump of
the season to claim the silver medal with a jump of 5 feet and 8
inches.
Shot Put: Tim Medlock once
again wins this event. He remained undefeated in this
event all season with no one to come close to touching him.
He threw over 50 feet again. Deon, Cary and Elkhayat all
of Potsdam take 2nd-4th
