UPPSTROM'S NO-HITTER LEADS M-W JACKETS TO FIRST WIN VS. SAINTS


Madrid-Waddington's David Uppstrom tossed a no-hit shutout in guiding the Yellow Jackets to their first win of the season, an
8-0 over the St. Regis Falls Saints.  The M-W bats also staked Uppstrom to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning, with Kyle Lawrence, Andrew Lindsey and Justin Putney each pounding

MARSHALL POWERS MALONE WIN PAST NORWOOD-NORFOLK 10-6


Norwood-Norfolk pitcher Kirk Colbert deals to the plate with a Malone runner on second base.  The Huskies chipped away at Colbert and the Flyers in every inning, building off a 4-2 lead in the third inning, en route to a 10-6 win in Central Division action on Friday.  Colbert assisted his own cause going 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Flyers.  (Bob LaRue photo)  Game Gallery

Will Griffith (8) hit a solo homerun for the Rockets.   Griffith was greeted at home plate by teammates following the blast.  The round tripper brought Morristown to within a run, 4-3, in the 6th inning, but that was the last run scored by either side.

THORBAHN'S TWO-RUN SINGLE LIFTS CANTON TO 4-2 WIN VS. MALONE


Salmon River’s second baseman Tyler Smiddy (14) waits to receives the ball while Chateaugay’s Nick Farrell (2) slides into second base. Salmon River’s Marc Plante (18) slides and stumbles into second base safely avoiding the tag for a stolen base.  Plante was the winner on the mound in the second game of the twinbill.

Salmon River’s Stephen Durant cranks one of his three hits on the day including this one that drove in the go ahead run.  Durant and starting pitcher Chris Lewis combined to toss a one-hitter in beating the Bulldogs in the first of two games.  Durant then drove in Marc Plante on a walkoff single in a 5-4 win in Game 2
 

POTSDAM BOUNCES BACK TO BEAT TUPPER BEHIND COLEMAN HOMER

The Potsdam Sandstoners baseball team bounced back from an early 2-0 deficit to turn back the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks 4-2 and move into sole possession of first place in the Central Division of Section X. Potsdam, Massena and Ogdensburg began the day all with 4-1 records. Potsdam pitcher Chris Reece tossed a complete-game seven hitter, striking out eight and surrendering just one walk. Jerry Coleman led the Stoner attack going three-for-four with a two-run blast. Tupper Lake (1-5, 2-6 overall) was led by Tony Provost who notched two of the Jacks’ seven hits.

POTSDAM BEATS WILDCATS BEHIND SCANCARELLA'S ARM & BAT

Potsdam's Mike Scancarello was the winning pitcher and aided his own cause going 2-for-4 with three RBIs,  Jerry Coleman went 3-for-4 and Chris Reece slammed two hits for Potsdam. (6-2, 7-2 overall).  Potsdam broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fifth inning and added an insurance marker in the sixth.

Gouverneur's Duane Roberts doubles to right-center field to keep the Wildcats in the contest.  Gouverneur scratched for single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh, but was saddled with three errors in the game.
 

HAMMOND RALLIES FOR FOUR RUNS FOR WALKOFF 9-8 WIN VS. PIRATES

Hammond’s Tony DeMarco (12) reaches back to fire a pitch.  James Stark-Ennis ripped a double and the game-winning RBI to polish off a four-run seventh inning rally that turned the Devils victorious.  Stark-Ennis was 2-for-3 on the game.

LISBON'S LASSIAL FIRES TWO-HITTER TO DELIVER WIN VS. HARRISVILLE

Lisbon’s Josh Lassial tossed a two-hit, complete-game shutout in the Golden Knights’ 7-0 triumph at Harrisville. Lisbon, now 5-1, remains a game behind undefeated Heuvelton for the West Division lead. Eric Mehaffy and Jordan Miller each triggered three hits, while Brandon Robinson swatted a two-run double. Harrisville’s record fell to 4-3.
 

HERMON-DEKALB BEATS HAMMOND
IN SLUGFEST ON WALKOFF ERROR

Hermon-DeKalb’s Tyler Amo singled, then came around to score the game winner on an outfield error in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Green Demons to a 12-11 win in a hitting slugfest over Hammond in West Division action. H-D’s Korey Besaw slammed a triple and a single to help power the win. Hermon-DeKalb improved to 5-2, 5-4 overall. For Hammond (1-5), Brandon Howie homered twice and Chris Thiverge also swatted a round tripper.

THORBAHN'S TWO-RUN SINGLE LIFTS CANTON TO 4-2 WIN VS. MALONE


Ogdensburg's Tyler Stevenson (left) threw a complete game and slammed a homerun to aid his own cause in the Blue Devils' 9-3 win over Canton and pitcher Brad Stone (right).  The win moved O.F.A. into a three-way with Potsdam and Massena atop the Central Division race, all with identical 4-1 records.

Canton's James Chase (2) is greeted at home by teammates after hitting a two-run homerun to tie the game 2-2 in the third inning.  OFA had scored twice in the first inning to take the lead.

Ogdensburg's Tyler Stevenson shakes Coach Mike Sargent's hand after crushing a long homerun onto the roof a building beyond centerfield.  Steven's solo blast came in the 4th inning, after Ogdensburg had regained the lead 4-2 in the third frame when Mike Luckie and Brendan Merna scored after hits.  Canton's Mike Murray scored on an error in the top of the fifth, before the Blue Devils sealed the win with a four-run rally in last of the fifth inning highlighted by Stevenson's two RBI double.

Canton’s Ridge Thorbahn laid down the sacrifice bunt and was thrown out by Malone catcher Dan Marshall.  In the sixth inning, Thorbahn lashed a bases-loaded two-RBI single to break a 2-2 tie and lift the Golden Bears (2-1) to a 4-2 comeback win over the Huskies.  Mike Murray also had two hits for the Bears.

Canton’s James Chase worked his way out trouble in the first inning when he gave up two runs, but then scattered just three hits for the rest the game in a four-hit victory.  Canton scratched for a run in the third inning and rallied for three runs in the sixth.
 

N-N FLYERS WIN FIRST GAME OF SEASON TROUNCING TUPPER 18-4

Norwood-Norfolk lefty Pat Durant dominated Tupper Lake batters, striking out four and allowing just one run in four innings on the mound.  Meanwhile, the Flyers staked him to a 12-0 lead.  Durant also helped his own cause with three RBIs.

N-N's Seth Clark squares around for a bunt attempt.  Clark delivered two hits and two RBI's for the Flyers, while Kirk Colbert slammed a two-run homerun.  Bob Lawyer drilled a two-run triple to lead Tupper Lake who fell to 1-4, 2-5 overall.

FISHER'S THREE-RUN BLAST LIFTS OGDENSBURG TO 10-4 WIN VS. N-N

Norwood-Norfolk's Nick Howard rips the pitch off the meat of the bat for a basehit.  Howard led the Flyers with three hits. However, wit the score tied 3-3 in the top of the third inning, O.F.A.'s Andy Fisher blasted a three-run home run to catapult the Blue Devils into the lead to stay.

Ogdensburg’s Brendan Merna (34) is safe at first after avoiding the tag of Norwood-Norfolk’s Pat Durant.  Durant and Nick Belile each had a pair of hits for Norwood-Norfolk.  For Ogdensburg, Gene Bouyer, Nick Wallace, Andy Ladouceur and Brent Rabidea each registered two hits in the victory.
 

HERMON-DEKALB TURNS BACK C-F EAGLES' EARLY SCORES IN 10-5 WIN

COLEMAN DELIVERS POTSDAM TO 8-4 WIN OVER NORWOOD-NORFOLK


Potsdam's Jerry Coleman displays a quality mix of high heat, sweeping curve combined with a changeup that has changed up the Sandstoners to a contender in the Central Division this season. Potsdam beat Norwood-Norfolk 8-4 on Friday.

Potsdam’s John Coleman slides into third base safely to record a stolen base and then would eventually come around to score.  Mike Scancarello smashed four hits including a pair of doubles and three RBIs to lead the Potsdam attack.

Norwood-Norfolk first baseman Seth Clark makes the stretch to just get the Potsdam runner in a bang-bang play.  Chris Reese racked up three doubles for the Flyers, while Matt Frego added two doubles and s single.  Potsdam rolled out to a 5-0 lead through the first three innings, before the Flyers scratched for a run in the 4th and another in the 5th.  Potsdam put the game out of reach with a three-run rally in the 6th inning.
 

WELLER OUTDUELS UPPSTROM AS LARRIES BEAT M-W JACKETS 10-7

HEUVELTON RALLIES LATE TO WIN IN 9TH INNING 10-6 VS. HAMMOND


Hammond’s Dan Ceresoli (3) slides in safely to beat the tag of Heuvelton catcher Hargrave.  Hammond took a 6-3 lead into the sixth inning, but could not contain the Bulldogs who bounced back to tie and force extra innings.  Heuvelton went on to rally for four runs in the top of the 9th inning to beat Hammond 10-6 on Tuesday.  Heuvelton relief pitcher Brookin Decker kept the Red Devils in check by pitching four scoreless innings of relief for the win.   (Eric Foote photo)  Game Gallery

Howie pitched a strong game into the late innings, but was touched for a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to tie the game.  He led the Devils with two singles, a triple and three RBIs.
 

HEUVELTON OPENS WITH 4-3 NON-LEAGUE WIN AT HALL OF FAME

In the shadow of the hallowed Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., the Heuvelton Bulldogs opened their 2008 campaign nipping Richfield Springs 4-3 in a non-league game on Thursday. After the Richfield Indians snagged a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the Bulldogs countered with a pair in the bottom of the frame. The Indians scratched for single scores in the third and fourth innings to edged into a 3-2 lead. But Heuvelton’s Jesse Hargrave delivered the key hit, walloping an RBI double in a two-run sixth inning that put the Bulldogs ahead for keeps 4-3. Sean Kelly, Al Ashley and David Putman also had RBIs for Heuvelton.

HEUVELTON RACKS UP ITS 2ND LEAGUE WIN BEATING H-D DEMONS

Heuvelton’s Brookin Decker laced a triple to deep center field scoring two runs on the hit.  Decker went 2-for-3 with a game-best four RBIs in powering the Bulldog victory.  Josh Dettmer also had two hits and two RBIs.
 

LARRIES' EARLY RALLIES PUT AWAY ST. REGIS FALLS 14-5 IN OPENER


St. Lawrence Central’s Ryan Patraw tags out St. Regis Falls Sean Tebeau while sliding into third base.  The Larries captured their home opener in convincing fashion by beating the St. Regis Falls Saints with 14 runs on nine hits in a 14-5 win in the lone East Division game on opening day Monday.  Cody Fuentes drilled a pair of doubles and knocked in three runs, while Mark Peets cracked three hits.  (Eric Foote photo)  Game Gallery

St. Lawrence Central's Mike Weller came on in relief of starter Phil Dishaw in the fourth inning and picked up the win on the mound.  Dishaw struck out seven batters in the first nine outs with no runs allowed in the first three frames.  The Larries
rallied big innings with four runs in the second and five more in the third inning to capture the win.
 

HARRISVILLE'S COLONEY DELIVERS OPENING DAY ONE-HITTER IN WIN

Harrisville’s Tom Coloney tossed a one hitter and struck out 14 batters as the Pirates opened their 2008 campaign with a 15-3 win over the Hammond Red Devils. After giving up a run in the top of the first, Harrisville erupted for seven runs in its first at bats of the season in the bottom of the frame and six more in the second inning to grab a commanding 13-1 lead. The Pirates rapped out 13 hits in the win. Tyler Berwald and Carson Patnode each delivered three hits, while Coal Campbell and Jason Thomas each cracked two hits.
