The Eagles posted a 1-0 lead through four innings, then tacked on two runs in the fifth inning on a Gordon Whitney bunt single and an infield error. Harrisville countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame, both coming with two out, to draw within a run. The inning was capped by Thomas’ RBI double. The Eagles added three insurance runs in the top of the sixth aided by two Pirate errors. Andrew Gearsbeck delivered two runs with a single to open a 6-2 lead with Forkey still throwing a two-hitter. Harrisville pounded out four runs on four hits in the seventh frame to force extra innings. The inning was capped by a bases-loaded suicide squeeze bunt executed perfectly by Carson Patnode to tie the game 6-6. After the Eagles left a potential go-ahead runner on second based in the 8th, Thomas lashed a single to left and fielder Wyatt Shaul delivered a one-hop throw to the plate that beat Colin Baker at the plate, but the ball caromed up and over catcher Ken Dolan for the game winner. In the loss, Forkey struck out 12 Pirates while Gordon Whitney laid down three bunt singles, Shaul had two hits and Gearsbeck had two hits for the Eagles.
