By Bob LaRue, North Country SportsNet
The Potsdam Sandstoners and Norwood-Norfolk Flyers boys’ golf teams each swept their tri-meets on Monday to remain undefeated and to stand alone atop their respective divisions. Potsdam’s young squad continued to surprise with impressive scores in edging Massena 207-208, while Ogdensburg finished a distant 251. Nick Miller and Mike Ellis each fired 36 to lead Potsdam. Freshman twins Ryan Merriman (43) and his brother Matt (45) finished third and fourth for the Sandstoners, while Cody Compeau crept in with a 47. Justin Tyo led the Red Raiders firing a 37, while Matt Sharp and Matt Viskovich turned the heat up with rounds of 42. Ogdensburg was led by Jerry Guimond’s 45 and Jake McPherson’s 46.  Meanwhile, Norwood-Norfolk swept both Salmon River 5-0 and Clifton-Fine 5-0 to take sole possession of first place in Division II.  Jake Ladouceur had the match's low score 37, while teammate Matt Fiacco shot a 40.

N-N FLYERS TOP E-K COUGARS AT PARTRIDGE RUN 4-1

Norwood-Norfolk's Billy Jackson sends the ball over the hilly fairway on the third hole at the Partridge Run Golf Course in Canton, which is starting to "green up."  Teams from Norwood-Norfolk and Edwards-Knox battled the bitter cold, a few flakes of snow and each other on a cold Wednesday.  The Flyers improved to 2-0 with a 4-1 win over the Cougars (four of five players were winners) in Wednesday's match.  (Bob LaRue photo)  Match Gallery

Flyers' Blake Barkley sends the shot up the fairway.  Barkley beat E-K's Jesse Merkley by 14 shots to post a win.
