The Lowville Raiders spoiled
Potsdam's season opener with a
12-6 win at SUNY Potsdam on
Saturday. In a non-league
contest, the Raiders edged out
to a 3-2 lead after the first
quarter and 6-3 at the
half. Potsdam closed the
gap to 7-5 early in the fourth
quarter, but the Raiders owned
the rest of the contest scoring
five straight goals. For
Potsdam, Jason Soucis netted
four goals. Corey McGregor
dished out four assists.
Adam Webster contributed a goal
and an assist, while Corey
Bercume rounded out the scoring
with a goal. Jack Mullaney
stopped 13 shots, while Ryan
Leroux made two saves in fourth
quarter action. Coach Todd
Kaiser told NCSN that he was
pleased with how his team
battled. "We made a couple
of key turnovers that opened
their scoring at the end.
We have to work on our spacing,
getting new guys used to the
system, winning more faceoffs
and getting more scoring
especially from our
midfielders."
