CANTON EDGES SARANAC LAKE TO EVEN LEAGUE RECORD AT 7-7

Saranac Lake's Allen Ashlaw (6) led a late charge, capped by this goal, to pull within one goal of the Bears late in the game, before time ran out on the Red Storm. Ashlaw and Mike Sapone finished with three goals apiece to lead the Red Storm who fell to 5-8 on the season, 5-9 overall.  Canton squared its record at 7-7 in league action and 7-9 overall.
 

SALMON RIVER BEATS HEUVELTON TO CLINCH REGULAR-SEASON TITLE

17-4 TO CLINCH 4TH PLACE


Ogdensburg's Tanner Lawrence swipes a point-blank shot on the Massena net, but Raiders' goalie Jake Martin (5) made an eye-level save.  Massena clobbered Ogdensburg 17-4 to improve to 9-6 and clinch fourth-place in the regular season standings.  Massena’s Taylor Elsner slammed seven goals and fed three assists, while David Henrie punched in two goals and tossed out five assists for the Raiders who improved to 9-6 in league and 9-7 overall. SALMON RIVER JUMPS ON COLTS IN 23-1 WIN TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED


  Salmon River defender Hank Delile (7) reaches around Colton-Pierrepont’s David Avery to knock the ball loose from his stick.  The first-place Shamrocks stayed unbeaten romping past the Colts 23-1.  The Shamrocks’ Ty Thompson led all scorers with three goals and five assists. The Shamrocks netted ten goals in the first period alone in cruising to a 23-1 win over the Colts. Brad McGowan wristed three markers and dished an assist for the Rocks who stayed undefeated at 12-0 in league and 13-0 overall. Robert Beaulieu netted the lone goal for Colton-Pierrepont (0-13, 0-14 overall).
 

SOUTH JEFF TOPS HEUVELTON 12-6 IN NON-LEAGUE CONTEST


Heuvelton’s Cody McCormick (8) dishes the ball off while getting pressure from behind by a South Jefferson player.  The South Jefferson Spartans downed Heuvelton 12-6 in a non-league contest.  Bryan Smith led the Spartans with four goals and four assists, while Kyle Steele pitched in three goals and Jordan Jerome added two more for South Jefferson.

MASSENA CHARGES BACK TO BEAT HEUVELTON BULLDOGS 15-6

 SALMON RIVER TAKES CONTROL IN FINAL QUARTER TO BEAT LARRIES

Salmon River’s Ross Cree (71) puts a swim move on two split two St. Lawrence Central defenders on his way towards midfield.  Ty Thompson generated four goals and handed out three assists to guide the Shamrocks victory, their eleventh without a loss in league standings.  Seth Oakes had four goals and an assist.  Corey Thompson netted only one goal, but served up six assists.  Kevin Logan collected three goals and two assists for St. Lawrence Central who fell to 11-3, 13-3 overall.  Cody Kilcoyne and Kyle Shampine each scored twice.

LOGAN AND KEENAN LEAD LARRIES' QUICK START IN 11-4 WIN VS. STORM

 CANTON CLIMBS INTO 4TH PLACE TIE BEATING OGDENSBURG 15-5

FRARY SCORES FOUR GOALS AS O.F.A. BEATS HEUVELTON 8-2

POTSDAM DOMINATES CANTON IN FIRST HALF OF 16-2 VICTORY

POTSDAM'S 1ST QUARTER SURGE LEADS TO 9-3 WIN VS. HEUVELTON 9-3

CREE'S SIX GOALS LEADS SALMON RIVER TO 12-2 WIN VS. BLUE DEVILS

THOMPSON LEADS SALMON RIVER IN  KEY 8-4 WIN OVER POTSDAM

Heuvelton’s Ryan Kelly (25) tangles with St. Lawrence Central’s Ryan Cole (2) while going for the loose ball.  Cody Kilcoyne racked up three goals and three assists to propel the Larries offense.  Jack Keenan and Nate Cole also added two goals each.  For Heuvleton, Matt Gardner, Jon Kingsley and Dave Skipka each scored goals, while Tom Blackburn notched 18 saves in the Heuvelton net in the loss.
 

MASSENA POWERS BY HEUVELTON IN 12-0 SHUTOUT OPENING VICTORY


Massena's Taylor Elsner (24) streaked in from the left wing and fired a shot toward the Heuvelton goal and netminder Tom Blackburn (30).  The shot eluded the goal by inches.  Elsner provided three goals and two assists.  Massena got a first-period goal, but erupted in the second period for four more scores, then seven goals in the second half to post a 12-0 shutout vs. the Bulldogs in the season opener for the Raiders.  Heuvelton fell to 0-2.  (Bob LaRue photo)  Game Gallery

Blackburn gets tied up but deflects a shot wide of the net.  Randy Seymour flipped in four goals and dished two assists, while Zach Hopps added three goals and an assist to lead the Raiders.  Blackburn made 24 saves, while Massena's Dan Tyo made six saves between the pipes.
 

SARANAC LAKE EDGES HEUVELTON 7-6 IN DOUBLE OVERTIME IN OPENER


Heuvelton’s Matt Gardner (21) picks his corner over the shoulder of the Saranac Lake goaltender for a goal during the third quarter.  Heuvelton and Saranac Lake battled to a 6-6 tie through regulation.  Heuvelton's Mike Gardner scored 4 goals, including the tying goal with 6.8 seconds left in regulation.  The Red Storm's Mike Sapone scored from Connor Paschke with 2:06 left in the second overtime for the game winner in the season opener for both squads, in a 7-6 decision.

Chauncey Sutphen turned out 15 shots for Saranac Lake.

ST. LAWRENCE LARRIES SPOIL DEBUT FOR NEW O.F.A. LAX TEAM


St. Lawrence Central’s Cody Kilcoyne (6) protects the ball away from Ogdensburg’s Eric Sweeney (12).  Kilcoyne netted six goals in all and Jack Keenan had a hat trick in less than a minute and led the Larries' second-quarter surge with nine straight goals.  Keenan finished the game with four goals and two assists.  The Larries spoiled the debut for the new O.F.A. varsity lacrosse program with a 17-6 win.

Ogdensburg’s Cody O’Marah (17) lays out a St. Lawrence Central player to the turf in a squeeze between two O.FA. defenders.  O.F.A.'s Zach Giglio led the Blue Devils with three goals and an assist.  Chris Folsom stopped 11 shots for the Blue Devils, while Connor McCuin turned out seven shots and Brian Labier stepped in for two saves in the final period.
 

CANTON OPENS REGULAR SEASON WITH SHUTOUT WIN OVER COLTS

Canton Dakota Sharp (12) sneaks a shot short side for a goal on Colton-Pierrepont’s goalie Josh Sayless.  Brandon Bolis pitched in three goals, while John O'Connor, Zach Kenny and Mike Witherhead all delivered two goals in Canton's win.  Josh Stiles made 12 saves to preserve the shutout for Canton.
 

POTSDAM GETS NON-LEAGUE WIN OVER GENERAL BROWN 6-3


Potsdam defender Josh Adams (33) gets across in front of a General Brown player just in time to force the shot to sail over the Sandstoner cage.  Potsdam defeated General Brown 6-3 in a non-league contest their season opener.  Jordan LaPoint connected for three goals and an assist for the Sandstoners.

Potsdam’s Ryan Bercume (9) keeps control of the ball while being tightly marked by a General Brown defender.  Bercume had a goal while Taylor Caswell added another.  General Brown was led by Jared Flath with a goal and an assist, along with single markers from Kyle Hart and Nick Frears.  Dan Donaldson made 19 saves in the Lions net.
