the state, Carthage immediately
rattled Potsdam for 13 straight
goals and a 14-1 halftime lead.
The Comets improve to 20-3,
while the Sandstoners finished
their season at 12-2 overall.
Katie Ferris scored five goals
and added three assists.
Katherine DeRonda scored two
goals and chipped in four
assists, all in the first half.
Gabrielle Kamide had a goal and
four assists and Kailah Kempney
connected three times. Potsdam’s
goals were netted by Keeley Rice
and Monique Cornett.

with 2:55 left in regulation to give
Massena its only lead of the game in
an 8-7 comeback victory in the
Section X overall quarterfinal
play-in round. The Blue
Devils, led by Amanda Woods,
dominated the opening minutes to
capture a 3-0 lead, before the Red
Raiders found the net with three
straight markers from Bettina Jermano, Anna Riley and Kiley
Buckshot to tie the game. Woods
fired two more goals to generate a
6-4 O.F.A. lead by halftime. LeClair
and Nicole Johnson gave the Raiders
a quick start to the third quarter
with two goals to knot the contest

first-ever entry into the State
Final Four at Cortland.
Watertown scored the first seven
goals, before Massena’s Kylie
Buckshot found the mesh. Emma
Dupree added a score to draw
Massena back to 9-2 late in the
first half. But the Raiders (9-8
overall) were depleted with the
loss of six players on senior
trip and could not generate a
score in the second half. Rachel
Schneeberger led Watertown with
three goals, two assists and
numerous faceoff wins. Taylor
Nims had two goals and three
assists, Kathleen Bacsik added
two goals and two assists, while
Sophia Capone and Taylor Hughes
each registered three goals.

high two goals and one assist. Alex
Covert and Maggie Schneck each added
a goal while Jackie Dubee
contributed an assist. Ashley
Pittman notched 11 saves in the
Storm's win. Also scoring for
Heuvelton was Alexa Stowe and
Kaitlin Pierce who had two goals
each. Emilie Ross and Lindsay
Tennant each added a goal. The
Storm dominated the faceoffs,
winning over 75 percent of the
draws.

May 18: The
Saranac Lake Red Storm Girls
lacrosse team won a close game
at Ogdensburg 6-5. This win
secured a third-place playoff
seed for the Storm with
Ogdensburg taking the fifth
seed. This intense matchup was
much different from the first
go-round when each team scored
in the double digits. Although
Saranac Lake kicked things off
with the first goal, Ogdensburg
answered with a trio, with
Ogdensburg ahead 5-2 at
halftime. However, the Red Storm
came out strong in the second
half, pecking away at
Ogdensburg's lead, one goal at a
time. The Storm's defense and
midfield lines, playing with
extreme intensity. came up big
causing a countless number of
critical O.F.A. turnovers. With
three minutes left, Hillary Pond
scored the game-tying Red Storm
goal from a Cayla Cluckey pass.
With 19 seconds left, Shannon
Muldowney fired home the
game-winning goal. Storm scoring
was led by Hillary Pond with
four goals. Cayla Cluckey added
a goal and two assists. Shannon
Muldowney had a goal and an
assist, with Ryan Garnish also
contributing an assist. The
Storm goal was held down by
Ashley Pittman who stopped 12
shots for the win. The Blue
Devils were led by Chelsea
Martin who had two goals. Amanda
Woods, Allison Edwards, and
Brittany Taylor each added a
goal for O.F.A. Holli-Jo Cota
tended net for O.F.A. The Storm
will face Heuvelton in the first
round of playoffs on May 27th,
at 4:30pm, at Spencer's Boat
Works.

Potsdam fought back after O.F.A. posted 2-0 and 3-2 leads,
to overcome the Blue Devils in the second half for a 7-5
victory and remain unbeaten at 9-0 in league play 10-1
overall. Cornett and Kaila Maguire both scored two
goals to led Potsdam. Abbie Adams made nine saves in
net for the win. Cota was spectacular in net making 26
saves for the Blue Devils

POTSDAM DEFEATS SARANAC LAKE TO CLINCH
REGULAR SEASON TITLE |

May 11:
Saranac Lake's last home game of
the season ended in a 9-4 loss
handed to them by the Potsdam
Sandstoners. The score was 4-1
at half time. Saranac Lake came
out strong and their defense was
able to hold back Potsdam for
the majority of the first half.
The score was tied at 1-1 until
midway through the first half
when Potsdam when on three-goal
scoring spree. Although the Red
Storm had opportunities to
strike, Potsdam remained tough.
Saranac Lake came out strong in
the second half, scoring two
quick goals and narrowing the
Potsdam lead. With ten minutes
remaining in the game, the Storm
had pulled back within 6-4.
However, in the last five
minutes, Potsdam knocked in two
solid goals and a third went
just over the line to seal the
win. Potsdam scoring was
topped by Kaila Maguire with
three goals and three assists,
Ginette Cornett with three
goals, Kanika Misra with one
goal and an assist, Tess Curry
and Tess Hazen with one goal
each and Monique Cornett with
one assist. Saranac Lake's
Ashley Pittman made 20 saves in
the game in net. Jackie Dubee
had three interceptions and
several key transitions. Goals
were scored by the Storm's Alex
Covert, Cayla Cluckey, Megan
Mueller and Hillary Pond. Cayla
Cluckey contributed the lone
assist.

May 6:
Saranac Lake/Lake Placid topped
Ogdensburg 18-16 in an intense
game at Saranac Lake. Both teams
were evenly matched with their
records so far this season, then
in the game. From the first
draw, Ogdensburg came out firing
and within a few seconds put the
first goal in the net.
Sara-Placid answered quickly,
pulling ahead by three goals in
the opening half in the seesaw
battle. O.F.A. bounced back and
by the half it was 10-9. The
second half was the same seesaw
battle with O.F.A. striking
first. After the Blue Devils
pulled ahead by two goals, the
Storm turned up the fury.
Although Ogdensburg held control
on the draw, strong Storm
defense forced several turnovers
that led to several scoring
opportunities. Ashley Pittman
notched 20 saves in goal for the
Storm, while Morgan McCelland
held down the net for
Ogdensburg. Shannon Muldowney
led the Storm attack with seven
goals and two assists. Hillary
Pond added three goals and three
assists, while Cayla Cluckey
contributed two goals and and
assist, Megan Mueller had three
markers and an assist and Alex
McFaddin added three goals. Gaby
Feliu, Meadow Hackett and Jackie
Dubee each contributed assists.
For Ogdensburg, Molly Morrow led
the way with seven goals and a
helper, while Chelsea Martin had
four goals, Amanda Woods netted
two goals, Rosie Giglio, Chelsea
Hackett and Ashley Feldt each
contributed a goal. The
Storm improves 3-3 in Section X
and Ogdensburg drops to 2-5, 3-6
overall.

Brown's Nichole Eamer rammed in six goals and dished out

April 24: The
Saranac Lake/Lake Placid girls
lacrosse team dropped their
first home game of the season to
Massena 11-7 on Friday. Massena
led 4-3 at halftime. Massena
scoring was led by Anna Riley
who tallied three goals. Saranac
Lake/Lake Placid was led by
Hillary Pond who had three goals
and an assist. Megan Mueller and
Shannon Muldowney each notched
two goals and one assist with
Gaby Feliu, Cayla Cluckey and
Kiersten Lee each adding an
assist.

April 22: The
Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Girls
Lacrosse team dropped their
first season game to
league-leader Potsdam 13-9
(4-0). Potsdam dominated the
first half of the game
controlling 70% of the draw and
having a 22-8 shot on goal
advantage. The score at the end
of the first half was 10-2.
Leadership on the Saranac
Lake/Lake Placid team picked the
girls up and there was a totally
different game in the second
half. In goal, Ashley Pittman
took control of the defense and
with the help Sara Preston and
Alex Grossman the Sara-Placid
defense allowed only 11 shots to
be taken in the second half.
Within the second half Pittman
notched a 70% save percentage
and the Sara-Placid girls had 20
shots on goal. Shannon Muldowney
led Sara-Placid in points with 4
goals and 2 assists. Ryan
Garnish added two goals and an
assist, with Alex McFaddin,
Cayla Cluckey, and Jackie Dubee
each notching one goal. Monique
Cornett and Cassie Grace led the
Potsdam attack with 3 goals
each.

April 27:
Saranac Lake-Lake Placid girls
lacrosse team beat Northwood
11-5 at Spencer's Boatworks on
Monday. The Storm came out hard
after a tough loss to Massena on
Friday. The score was 6-3 at the
half, followed by three quick
goals after halftime. From
there, Sara-Placid controlled
the ball offensively and
defensively. Cayla Cluckey put
in three goals, with one assist
and an interception, while
Shannon Muldowney and Gaby Feliu
each added two goals and an
assist. Ryan Garnish, Alex
McFaddin summed up the score
with two goals each while Megan
Mueller and Jackie Dubee added
assists. Halle Kent led the
scoring for Northwood slamming
two goals with Becca Lindsay,
Darby Jenkins and Kristen
Bickman each contributing one
goal. Ashley Pittman notched 11
saves in goal for Saranac.

9-4. The Bulldogs quickly scored
three goals within the first
five minutes of the game.
Saranac Lake answered with four
in a row to take a 4-3 lead at
halftime. The Storm demonstrated
great passing and teamwork so
that every player on the
offensive end had shots on goal.
Saranac Lake had a total of 25
shots on Heuvelton led by
attackers Gaby Feliu, Shannon
Muldoweny, Kiersten Lee, Kenya
Lovill, Megan Mueller and Ryan
Garnish. Defensive communication
was key in handling Heuvelton's
change in pace, work behind the
net and helped facilitate a
quick transition to offense.
Alex Covert, Hannah Feinberg,
Sara Preston, Selma Radoncic,
Kristy Duguay and Maggie Nester
were key in stopping the
Heuvelton attack. Midfielder's
Alex McFaddin, Hillary Pond,
Jackie Dubee, Cayla Cluckey,
Cadence Roddy and Meadow Hacket
were key in the quick transition
to offense. Ashley Pittman had 7
saves in goal. Shannon Muldowney
led the storm attack with 5
goals and an assist. Hillary
Pond had two goals and one
assist while Ryan Garnish and
Jackie Dubee had one goal each.
Megan Mueller and Gaby Feliu
each contributed assists. Emilie
Ross led Heuvelton's scoring
with 2 goals.

May 4: The
Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Girls
lacrosse team topped Heuvelton
15-6. The score was 5-5 at
halftime. Luck wasn't going the
way of the Storm during the
first half. Several Bulldogs
opportunities, all of which they
used to their advantage, earning
them four goals off of Storm
fouls. It was not until the
second half when the Storm came
out in full fury. Shannon
Muldowney stepped up going
4-for-4 in winning draws, with
each win resulting in a scoring
opportunity for the team. Ashley
Pittman stepped up in the goal
and made key saves. Heuvelton
continued to press hard, but
could not stand agaisnt the
Storm's fierce second half play.
Pittman recorded 14 saves in
goal. Saranac Lake's Alex
McFaddin had a great day
notching four goals and for
assists. Muldowney followed by
earning three goals and three
assists with Ryan Garnish
tallying a personal game high of
four goals and one assist.
Hillary Pond contributed two
goals with Jackie Dubee and
Cayla Cluckey each adding
another. Sara Preston notched a
key assist off a strong
defensive clear. The Storm will
their next game on Wednesday vs.
Ogdensburg.

CANTON IMPROVES TO 4-1 IN LEAGUE WITH
12-11 WIN VS. SARANAC LAKE |

May 1: The
Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Girls
lacrosse team lost a nailbitter
to Canton 12-11. The score was
4-3 at halftime. Both teams came
out hard after the half. At ten
minutes Canton had pulled ahead
by three goals. With three
minutes left in regulation, the
storm had tied the score. Canton
answered with a quick goal. The
Storm the put put several shots
on net, but Canton goalkeeper
Maricel Kitts kept the shots out
of the mesh. Shannon Muldowney
led the Storm with five goals
and two assists. Cayla Cluckey
had two goals and three assists
while Hillary Pond having three
goals and an assist. Alex
McFaddin had a goal and a assist
with Kenya Lovill and Megan
Mueller each contributing an
assist. Ashley Pittman had 19
saves in goal for the Storm.

the Raiders surged back 10-9 with

scored five goals and the Blue
Devils held off Raiders 11-10 to
gain their first win of the season
and square their record at 1-1.

IN SEESAW 11-7 LACROSSE VICTORY |

Canton’s Katherine Sweeney (4) controls the ball and looks

goals overall. A third quarter surge to
a generate a three-goal cushion helped lead Canton to an
11-7 victory over Ogdensburg in the regular-season opener

goals for the Bears. Molly
Morrow led the Blue Devils with four
goals as well. After ties at
1-1, 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4, Canton netted
a goal near the end of the first
half to gain a 5-4 advantage at
intermission. The Bears
solidified their lead by scoring the
first two goals to open the third
quarter and fended off a Blue Devil
rally late in the third to climb
back 8-7. The Bears closed out
the game with three unanswered
goals.
