Canton, Malone Continue Atop Leaderboard; N-N 3rd


Canton’s Lindsey Proulx rises over the bar in her first attempt in the high-jump event. Proulx finished second in the event. Massena’s Jacalyn Lamica claimed a first-place finish at a height of five feet. Proulx lifted to 4-feet-8. Canton continued to outdistance and outrun the competition in winning its fourth meet in a row to start the season, racking up 179 team points. Canton dominated the individual first-placed finishes in Week 3 of Section X girls track and field. For the Golden Bears, Lindsay Proulx won the 55-meter hurdles and the shot put. Emma Collins sprinted to victory in the 55-meter dash, while Laura Pierce won the 100-meter run. Claire Olin won the long jump. The Franklin Academy Huskies were able to come in a close second with wins by Emily Pomainville in the 1500-meter run, while her sister Carrie won the long 3000-meter run. Rebekka Bond captured the 600-meter run. Potsdam’s Maddie Dreschel was the winner in the 300-meter dash. Massena’s Jacklyn Lamica was two inches better than the rest of field in the girls high jump. Norwood-Norfolk won the 3200-meter relay, while Malone won the 1600-meter relay and Potsdam won the 800-meter relay.

Potsdam’s Emma-Lee Frary leaps into victory in one heat of the 55-meter hurdles. Lindsay Proulx of Canton won the event by 0.8 second ahead of Massena’s Marissa Perez. Frary finished fifth of 18. Canton captured their third meet of the season, edging Malone by 6½ points. Norwood-Norfolk placed third.

Canton Edges Malone For Second TRACK Meet Victory


Canton’s Emma Collins pulls ahead for a sizeable lead in the 55-meter run. Carrie Pomainville of Malone and Gabby Dunkelburg of Gouverneur were neck-and-neck in the girls 4x800 relay Norwood-Norfolk won the race with Canton in second. For Canton, Lindsay Proulx won the 55 hurdles and shot put, Emma Collins won the 55 meter dash, Rebecca DelRossi won the 1000 meter run, Laura Pierce finished first in the 3000 meters, Claire Olin won the long jump, Morgan Rosser ran the best in the triple jump. Massena’s Jacalyn Lamica won the high jump. For Malone, Emily Pomainville won the 1500-meter run, Rebekka Bond won the 600 meters, Katelyn Fause captured the 300 meters. Malone won the 4x400 meter relay. Canton won the 4x200 meter relay. Canton won the meet with Malone second and Norwood-Norfolk third.

Canton opened defense of its Section X title with a well-challenged opening-meet team victory. Canton amassed 139 points, closely followed by the Malone Huskies with 130. Ogdensburg was a distant third with 57. In the first event of the night, the 4x800 meter relay, the Norwood-Norfolk team of Kaycee Saucier, Leah Livernois, Hannah Gray and Brianna Hayes led the way. Canton finished second and Malone third. The 55-meter dash was won by Canton’s Emma Collins, just one-tenth of a second over Potsdam’s Maddie Dreschel. The 55 meter hurdles was won by Canton’s Lindsay Proulx, by three tenths ahead of Malone’s Marissa Perez. Top finishers in the girls 1500 meters: Carrie Pomainville of Malone, Cassidy Scott of Canton and Danielle Shaheen of Tupper Lake. Malone’s Rebekkah Bond ran to a 9.6 second victory in the girls 600-meter run. Tupper Lake’s Madi Fortier of Tupper Lake won the 300-meter dash by a half second. Other winners included Canton’s Rebecca DelRossi in the 1000-meter run, Malone’s Emily Pomainville in the 3000-meter run, Potsdam’s Maddie Dreschel in the long jump, Massena’s Jacalyn Lamica in the high jump, Malone’s Brianna Wilke in the shot put and Canton’s Morgan Rosser in the triple jump. The Canton relay team of Emma Collins, Emma Bentley-Hicks, Gabby Scott and Rebecca DelRossi claimed the 1600-meter relay. Collins, Lindsay Proulx, Clare Olin and Carly Whiteford raced to victory in the 800-meter relay.

First Track Meet: Canton Edges Malone For First
