Sprinters from Potsdam, Massena and Norwood-Norfolk are nearly dead-even at the first hurdle in the 55-meter event.  Kylee Disotelle of Malone won the event, with Canton's Lindsay Proulx second and Gouverneur's Davina Jones third. 

CANTON DOMINATES IN TRACK FINAL; PIERCE SETS RECORD


A Canton athlete in the long-jump competition.  Canton's Jen Lomaki and Katie Lapinski finished first and second in the event., while Brittany Leonard added a seventh-place finish.  Norwood-Norfolk's Brianna Hayes finished third.  Tupper Lake's Hannah Klossner was selected as the Field Events MVP.  Canton repeated as Section X Girls Indoor Track Champions, racking up 184.67 points. Malone was second, Potsdam finished third. Canton's Laura Pierce was named Running MVP.  The 10th grader set a new Section X record in the 3000-meter run at 10:24.2, beating the old mark by over three seconds.

A Massena athlete makes her throw during the girls shot put event at St. Lawrence University.  The Canton Golden Bears won their fourth meet of the season and continued undefeated within Section X  in racking up 152½ points.  The next two places remained the same as Malone was a distant second at 110, while Potsdam placed third with 84½ points.

A Potsdam athlete leaps and clears the bar during the girls high jump competition.  The Canton quartet of Laura Pierce (1,500 meters), Rebecca DelRossi (600 meters), Katie Lapinski (300 meters) and Jen Lomaki (long jump) each won events to anchor the Golden Bears’ win. 

Week 3 Repeats Top 3: Canton, Malone, Potsdam


Competitors look for good position to start the girls 4x800 meter relay, won by Canton. For the third meet in a row, the top three places stayed the same. Canton dominated the field of nine teams with 159½ points for their third straight win. Malone finished second at 107 and Potsdam finished third at 67 points.

CANTON RUNS TO WEEK 2 WIN; MALONE 2ND, POTSDAM 3RD


Competitors in the girls 3000-meter race try to finish strong as the approach their final lap.  Canton won the girls event with 129 points, just 10 points ahead of second-place Malone.  Potsdam was third with 83 points.  Eighth grader Kaycia Saucier won the 3000 meters at 12:00.1, ten seconds ahead of the pack.  Sophomore Rebekkah Bond of Malone won the 1000 meters.  Freshman Maria Ricalton of Canton won the 1500 meters. A very close 1600-meter relay at the handoff of batons with teams from Potsdam, Indian River, Norwood-Norfolk and Malone all within close times.  Canton won the 1600 at 4:34.8, just nine-tenths of a second better than Malone, 19 seconds better than O.F.A. and 20 ahead of Potsdam.

CANTON RACES TO WEEK #1 TRACK WIN; MALONE SECOND


Runners compete in Friday night's opening Section X track-and-field meet in Canton. The Canton Lady Bears (155½ points) posted the team win in Week 1, with Malone in second place with 128.
