Salmon River’s Mary Gray (36) tips the ball over just over the net and past Ogdensburg defender Timiecca Mills (35) to score a point for the Shamrocks to begin the second set.  Salmon River narrowly won the first set 25-23, then OFA rallied back to win 25-17 and 25-17. However, the Shamrocks prevailed by winning to hotly-contested final sets 25-23 and 25-20. Fawn Jacobs led the Shamrocks with 17 points, while Tianna David added 11 points. For Ogdensburg, Planty tallied 23 points, five aces, 10 kills, five digs and one block; Chelsey Raven racked up 21 kills, 11 points, 11 digs, 7 aces and 4 assists. Hannah Smith dished up 12 assists, 11 points, one ace and six digs.

Jenna  Tarbell led the game defensively for the Raiders. recording 13 digs, while Cayla Hinkley led things offensively for Massena with 28 assists and three kills. McKenzee Lazore had 15 service points, five digs and eleven kills in the match.  Massena Coach Maggie Farrell commented, "Chateaugay is a team that gains momentum by making amazing hustle plays. They play very well at the net and make some smart decisions. We matched the hustle at times and overall made less errors. It was a great night of high school volleyball, the captains on both teams showcased themselves tonight, for sure!"

Iva Petronc led the scoring for the Sandstoners with 21 points in the match while Isabel Pecora had 22 assists. Ogdensburg was led by Chelsey Raven who had 13 kills, 7 assists, 8 points and 7 digs. She was followed by Parks who scored 11 points and had 10 digs. Celia Henry added 11 points and eight digs, while Hannah Smith dished out 11 assists.

Clifton-Fine’s Gabrielle Rauth (2) sets the ball just over the net and past Potsdam defender Marissa Carl (3) to score a point for the Eagles late in the first set. The Sandstoners won the first two sets 25-5 and 25-12, before the Eagles picked up the third set 25-21. The Sandstoners landed a 3-1 victory by winning the fourth set 25-5. Camryn Mangual had 18 points in the match, while teammate Isabell Pecora recorded 17 points. Alexandra Jones also scored eight points.

CLIFTON-FINE WINS FIRST-EVER VARSITY VOLLEYBALL MATCH

Clifton-Fine won its first-ever volleyball match in a five-set thriller over Tupper Lake.  The Eagles won the first two sets 25-21 and 25-19, but dropped the next two sets 25-12 and 25-23. However, the Eagles hung on for a 25-20 win in the final set for their historic first-ever win.  Senior Jadin Hathaway led the Eagles with 25 services points, while sophomore Gabby Rauth contributed 23 points.

potsdam SWEEPS WILDCATS TO REMAIN UNBEATEN IN WEST

Brushton-Moira’s Lauryn Fournier (14) blocks the spike attempt from Malone striker Sophia Poirier (5) earning a point for the Panthers midway through the first set.  The Panthers lost an extended first set 24-26, the reversed the margin in the second set 25-23. B-M won the third set 25-17, before the Huskies countered with a slim 25-22 win in Set #4. Led by Emily Dumville’s 11 points, the Panthers won a decisive fifth set 25-15 in the season opener for both teams. 

MASSENA SHUTS OUT TUPPER LAKE FOR 3-0 VICTORY

Massena’s Alyssa Eubank (24) spikes the ball over the head of a Tupper Lake defender to score a point in the first set.  Massena took a pair of easy wins in the first two sets 25-4 and 25-12, but needed an extended third set 26-24 to put the Jacks away.  Alyssa Eubank led Massena with 11 service points and five kills. Cayla Hinkley had 22 assists. Nethta Point served up ninr points and had four assists. Octavia Viscovich contributed eight service points and three kills whilel other middle Gabrielle Durant also chipped in with six kills. Rebecca Castleman and Jenna Tarbell had a very strong defensive game with eight and 11 digs respectively.

Seniors Alyssa Eubank had 20 service points, 3 blocks and 10 kills. Mckenzee Lazore had 18 service points, 6 kills and great defense with 15 digs. Cayla Hinkley had an outstanding 37 assists. Brittany Condon served up 13 points and had 3 kills, senior-libero Jenna Tarbell had 18 digs. Junior Gabby Durant had 14 service points, 4 blocks and 9 kills. Sophomore Nethta Point had 6 kills and 5 digs. Freshman Anna Thompson served up 10 points, had 5 kills and 10 digs. Said Coach Mary Farrell, “We came back from being down 7 points in the 3rd set, but the girls showed physical and mental toughness out there. Both teams pushed themselves to their limits and performed extremely well. It was great volleyball to watch.” I am not only proud of the girls that were physically playing on the court, but my sideline. These girls are teammates for a reason and the sideline was motivational and I can't even put into words how proud I am of the whole Massena team, no one ever gave up tonight , they all showed a lot of heart.” For Chateaugay, Valerie Titus slammed 28 kills, while Grace Harrigan hit 10 kills and dished up 28 assists.

POTSDAM NEEDS 4TH SET TO PUT AWAY TOUGH JACKETS

Madrid-Waddington’s Rachel Geagan (17) spikes the ball, but is blocked by Potsdam’s Emily Smith (6). For Potsdam, Beauchamp posted 13 points, while Katherine Betrus contributed 10 points and Isabel Pecora dished up 22 assists. Camryn Manual pitched in nine kills, while Keyana Johnson added six more. For Madrid-Waddington, McBath and Grace LePage collected nine service points, while Breanna Bouchie and Abbi Wilhelm chipped in seven points.

Alyssa Eubank served up an outstanding 16 service points and had three kills.  Brittany Condon delivered 14 service points. Gabby Durant added nine kills and five service points.  Freshman Anna Thompson had seven service points and three kills.  Mckenzee Lazore had seven service points and three kills.  Jazzy Dunn led the Shamrocks with 20 sets and three service points.  Mary Gray added 10 sets, two service points, two aces and one assist.  Massena will be hosting their Volley for a Cure Tournament on Saturday with seven other teams.
