Chateaugay RALLIES TO  OVERTAKE Ogdensburg 3-2

Ogdensburg’s Mattilynne Hough (11) taps the ball down past Chateaugay’s Dermott Montana (21). POTSDAM BEATS CANTON 3-1 TO CLIMB TO WEST LEAD

A Canton attacker bumps the ball over the head of Potsdam defender Jacke Butler (5) to earn a point in the late stages of the first set.  Potsdam won 25-19, 25-16, 19-25 and 27-25.  Butler collected 20 points, Hannah Hughes added 10 and Katherine Betrus scored 11.  For Canton, Gabby Rauth collected 13 points, four digs, four kills and five aces.  Gretchen Warner added 13 kills, two blocks and eight digs.  Kelsea Whittier posted 20 assists, one kill and three points.

Chateaugay GETS QUICK START TO BEAT potsdam 3-1

Madrid-Waddington attacker Marissa Hawkins (29) drives the ball past the Canton defender to earn a point in the first set.  Canton beat M-W 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21.  Canton was led by Grace Warner with nine kills, two blocks, three points and three aces.  Jillian DiSalvo collected 10 kills, one block, seven points and two aces.  Kelsea Whittier chipped in three points, three aces and 18 assists.

Brushton-Moira defeats Tupper 3-0 for first win


Tupper Lake’s Caydence Tyo tips the ball over the net into the waiting hands of Brushton-Moira’s Alexandria Beachy (1), but Beachy sent it back for a Panthers' point. Destiny Snyder (2) finished the game with 15 points, eight aces and five kills. Beachy collected 11 points, 4 aces and 3 kills, while Lauryn Fournier notched 7 points, 4 aces, and 5 kills for Brushton-Moria. BATTLE OF LAST UNBEATENS: Massena STOPS Chateaugay

Seniors Gabrielle Durant and Maria Sbaffo had a big presence at the net. Gabrielle with 8 kills and Maria with 5 kills. Maria also had 9 service points.  Gabrielle put up 6 blocks as well.

Madrid-Waddington attacker Marissa Hawkins (29) taps the ball just over the hands of Potsdam defender Emily Smith (6) to earn a point for the Yellowjackets late in the first set.  Potsdam toughed out a 28-26 win in the first set.  The Jackets captured the win 25-19 in the second set, before Potsdam dominated in the final two sets 25-13 and 25-15.  The Sandstoners were led by Emma Smith with six kills and nine points.  Katherine Betrus had six kills.  Hannah Hughes chipped in 16 points, while Marissa Carl had nine points.

A Salmon River attacker (4) slams the ball over Potsdam’s Katherine Betrus (1) to score a point for the Shamrocks.  Salmon River was led by Kylee Smoke with 5 service points, 37 sets and 7 assists, along with Mary Gray with 40 sets and 6 assists.  Rylie Gray collected 13 service points, 1 ace and 7 kills.  Kania Swamp added 10 service points, 2 aces 3 kills.

Gouverneur's Tessa Jenne (13) returns the shot from the Madrid-Waddington player in Gouverneur's 3-2 win over the Yellow Jackets.  The Wildcats came back from a 19-9 deficit in the deciding fifth set to outlast Madrid-Waddington 25-21.  The Wildcat comeback was led by JV call-up Katelyn Clancy who notched five aces and nine points in the final set.  Emma Bell also led Gouverneur with 15 kills, one ace and six points. Potsdam’s Emily Smith (6) sets up the spike in there close third set battle. In battle of unbeatens atop the West, Canton won the first two sets and led 20-16 in the third set, but Potsdam came roaring back, winning eight of the next 10 points.  Potsdam rallied to win the third set 25-23.  But Canton came back to win the fourth set and the match 25-21.  Sydney Lorenc led Canton with 11 kills, five points and four aces, while Kelsea Whittier chipped in 19 assists, two points and an ace.  Gretchen Warner scored nine kills. five points, four aces and three blocks. Kat Betrus led Potsdam with nine points and 24 digs.  Marissa Carl chipped in nine points, Emily Smith six kills and Jacke Butler 26 digs.  Canton won 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, and 25-21.
