Massena's tatum LaFrance wins patti baldwin award


The Patti Baldwin Award honors an all-round Section X volleyball player who demonstrates good skills, sportsmanship, leadership, academics, community and extracurricular involvement.This year's winner was Massena's Tatum LaFrance. Runners up included: Ogdensburg's Taylor Perry and Tupper Lake's Rebecca Delair.

Massena blanks Potsdam to advance to title game 3-0

Potsdam attacker Ann Beauchamp (1) drives the ball over the hands of the Massena defender Alyssa Eubank (24) to score a point in the first set of the Section X overall semifinals.  Massena won 25-11, 25-21, 25-15. Alyssa Eubank had 13 service points, 2 kills and 1 block. Tianna Back added 12 service points and 4 kills.  Tatum Lafrance and Brittany Condon had 8 service points each and 3 kills each. Tatum also chipped in 9 assists. Mckenzee Lazore had 7 service points, 4 kills and 7 assists.  Jenna Tarbell had 5 service points, and 2 back row attacks  Gabby Durant had 5 kills and 3 blocks.  For Potsdam, Rory Sixberry totaled six points and an ace, while Brooke Moore recorded three points.

Chateaugay captures 3-2 victory past Ogdensburg

Ogdensburg’s Chelsea Flinn (4) drives the ball past Chateaugay defender Taylor Staples (34) to earn a point late in the third set.  Paige McCormick registered 19 kills and 11 digs, while Taylor Perry had 18 assists and 14 digs.  Chelsea Raven added 20 points and 14 digs.  No details were provided on the Bulldogs scoring in the match,

Massena’s Mackenzee Lazore (1) drives the ball over the heads of two Jamesville-Dewitt defenders to score a point.  After rolling up 17 straight wins, the Red Raiders finished with a 17-2 overall record.

Chateaugay wins section x overall championship 3-2


The Chateaugay Bulldogs hoist the Section X Overall Championship trophy high as they celebrate winning the championship upsetting the undefeated Massena Red Raiders 3-2. For the Bulldogs, Savannah Fiorini, who aced the game-winning point, netted 21 kills, while Morgan Lamica added 20 points and 17 assists. Emily Ashlaw contributed 14 points, five aces and seven kills, while Valerie Titus provided 18 points and eight kills. For the Red Raiders, Tatum Lafrance, winner of the Patti Baldwin award and MVP , had 21 service points, 17 assists, 7 kills and 2 blocks. Mckenzee Lazore had 11 service points, 9 assists, 2 blocks and 4 kills. Brittany Condon and Alyssa Eubank had 8 service points each, while Alyssa chipped in 7 kills and 3 blocks. Massena wins the first set 25-19, but the Bulldogs dominated the second set 25-9. Tied 1-1, Massena went up 23-20 in the third set, but Chateaugay would win the final five points to win 25-23.
In the fourth set, Massena held off a late Bulldogs' rally, score the final three points to win 25-21, tying the match 2-2.
Final set: The Bulldogs rally from seven points down. Savannah Fiorino delivers an ace to close out a 25-21 win.

B-M PANTHERS UPEND TUPPER LAKE 3-1 IN PLAY-IN OPENER

 BRUSHTON-MOIRA 3, TUPPER LAKE 1
Fifth-seeded Brushton-Moira reversed a 3-1 regular-season loss to #4-seeded Tupper Lake just two days earlier by capturing a 3-1 win in the opening round of the Section X Class D playoffs. After winning the first two sets 25-13 and 25-18, the Panthers narrowly lost the third set 22-25, but then regrouped for a 25-19 closeout in the fourth set. Brushton-Moira advances to face top seed Chateaugay in the semifinals. Tupper Lake, led by 26 points, 14 kills and eight acres from Rebecca Delair, closed out its season at 6-11 overall.

Gouverneur’s Macey Flores (31) tips the ball past the Potsdam defender to earn a point near the conclusion of the second set.   Rory Sixberry scored 16 points tallied 16 points, while Camryn Mangual added 11 points and Izzy Pecora chipping in nine points. Bailey Soper led Gouverneur with seven points and 13 sets, while Emma Bell produced four points for the Wildcats who closed out the season at 5-13 overall.

Potsdam’s Rory Sixberry (6) spikes the ball to the court past Canton’s defender Sydney Lorenc (12) to score a point midway through the first set.  Potsdam captured the victory in the first set 25-10 to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Canton attacker Kendyll Stevenson (24) sets the ball over the head of Potsdam defender Ann Beauchamp (1) midway through the first set of the match. Potsdam won 25-20 and 25-16 to complete the sweep. Izzy Pecora scored 17 points and added three assists, while Rory Sixberry and Iva Petrovic scored 10 points each for the Sandstoners. Tianna Whitmarsh had five points to lead Canton that closed their season at 11-7.

CANTON SWEEPS SALMON RIVER in class c semiFINAL


Canton setter Tianna Whitmarsh (8) looks to create a scoring opportunity. The Golden Bears took three straight sets - 25-18, 25-12 and 25-11 -  to successfully sweep the Shamrocks.  The Bears advance in to the Section X Class C Championship to face top-seeded Potsdam on Thursday at 7:00 in Massena. Canton's Sydney Lorenc (12) blocks a shot at the net against Salmon River's Morgan Jock (16).   Celse McLoon led the Bears with seven kills, six aces and four points.  Tianna Whitmarsh added seven points, eight aces and eight assists.  Aline Bosco chipped in seven points, two aces and five digs, while Kendyll Stevenson had six kills.  Salmon River closed out its season at 8-11 overall.

3-0 to win class b title

Malone’s Alexis King (11) lifts the ball just past Ogdensburg defender Paige McCormick (12) to score a point near the end of the third set. The Blue Devils swept the Huskies 25-18, 25-13 and 25-16.  Taylor Perry tallied 14 points, four aces and 10 assists, while Kelsi Donaldson added 11 points and two kills. Paige McCormick contributed nine kills and seven points and Chelsea Raven added seven kills in the win for Ogdensburg. Malone closed out its season at 1-16 overall.
