OGDENSBURG SWEPT BY BROADALBIN-PERTH IN STATES

Ogdensburg’s Rileigh Planty (21) tips the ball over the net to score a point for the Blue Devils.  Broadalbin-Perth swept Ogdensburg in three sets, 25-9, 25-16 and 25-14 in the New York State Class B quarterfinals.  CHATEAUGAY SEASON ENDS IN SWEEP IN N.Y. QUARTERFINAL

Chateaugay’s Dakota Moses (11) slams the ball past Canton’s Jilly DiSalvo (10).  Gretchen Warner ended the game with 8 kills, 5 points and 2 aces. Whittier finished with 11 assists and DiSalvo added with 2 kills, 2 blocks, 6 points and 4 aces.  Valerie Titus paced Chateaugay with six points, two aces and eight kills. Brinn Golden provided 4 kills and five points, while Alexis Monette served up 7 assists and five points.

Congratulations to Chateaugay's Valerie Titus, recipient of the 2018 Patty Baldwin Award for outstanding play, sportsmanship, dedication, academics and community service in a Section X volleyball player. 

 CANTON BATTLES BACK, BUT FALLS TO VOORHEESVILLE 3-1

in STATE QUARTERFINAL

Massena finished its season at 15-2 overall, including the Section X Overall championship.

Massena Wins Section X VolleyBall Championship

Lazore and Delany Durant netted 11 points each, while Lazore dished out 15 assists and four kills. Gabrielle and Delany Durant issued 12 and 11 kills respectively. Gabby also scored 10 points. Maria Sbaffo added 10 points and 11 kills. Canton was led by Sydney Lorenc with 8 kills, 1 block, one dig, four kills, 2 points and 3 aces. Kelsea Whittier with 13 assists and one ace. Mattigan Porter chipped in eight points and six aces. 

Raiders comeback to win 3-2 over Devils in semifinals

CHATEAUGAY OUTDUELS M-W JACKETS FOR CLASS D CROWN

After the teams swapped wins in the first two sets, top-seeded Chateaugay dominated the third set, but had to hold off #2-seeded Madrid-Waddington in the fourth set to win 3-1 in the Section X Class D championship. Chateaugay won 25-8, 15-25, 25-8, 25-20. Valerie Titus led the Bulldogs with 22 points, eight aces and 16 kills. Montana Dermott added 18 points and eight aces. Brinn Golden contributed 10 kills, while Alexis Monette dished out 15 assists. Chateaugay is paired up with Canton for the Section X overall semifinals on Saturday.

The top-seeded Chateaugay Bulldogs shut out the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks 25-16, 25-9 and 25-17 in the Section X Class D semifinals.  Alexis Monette led the Bulldogs with 21 points, nine aces and 11 assists.  Val Titus chopped in 10 points, five aces and seven kills.  Chateaugay faces Madrid-Waddington in the Class D final.  Tupper Lake's season ended at 3-15.

Brushton-Moira attacker Madison Wilcox (3) drives the ball just over the hands of Madrid-Waddington defender Rachel Geagan (17) to earn the winning point in the second set to tie the match 1-1.  Madrid-Waddington won despite wide swings in the outcomes of each set 25-15, 22-25, 25-12, 9-25, 25-20.  Gaegan led the Jackets with 12 service points, while Marissa Hawkins chipped in with 11.  B-M closed out at 7-9 overall.

A Gouverneur attacker sets the ball just past Potsdam defender Hannah Hughes (7) earning a point for the Wildcats late in the first set of their semifinal match. The Sandstoners captured the win in the first set 25-20. Potsdam also swept the next two sets 25-7 and 25-21 to win the semifinal match 3-0.  Hughes lead the Sandstoners in scoring with 22 points, followed by Jackie Butler with six points.  Keyana Johnson scored eight points leading the Wildcats in scoring.

Potsdam’s Keyana Johnson (22) returns the shot for a score to reclaim the lead in the first set.  For the Bears, Grace Franklin posted 21 points, six aces and two kills. Kelsie Whitter provided 25 assists, six points and two aces. Sydney Lawrence added 14 kills and two digs. Gretchen Warner contributed 16 kills and one ace.

OGDENSBURG CLAIMS CLASS B TITLE, DOWNING SHAMROCKS

Ogdensburg toughed out the two opening sets, faltered in the third set, then closed out top-seeded Salmon River in the fourth set, winning 3-1 in the Section X Class B championship. The second-seeded Blue Devils won 26-24, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-18. O.F.A. was led by Adrianha Parks with 12 points, 15 digs and five kills. Hannah Richardson plugged in 14 points and seven assists. Raleigh Planty provided 13 digs and seven kills. Celia Henry posted 10 assists, nine digs and nine points, while Emily Ferrand added seven kills and seven digs. Ogdensburg will square off against Class A champion Massena in the Section X overall semifinals on Saturday.

The Blue Devils pulled away from a close first set to beat the Huskies 25-17, then finished off Malone in straight sets 25-14 and 25-15.  Ogdensburg advances to the Section X Class B championship to face top-seeded Salmon River, on Thursday at Massena High School at 4:00.
