Salmon River’s Mara Lazore (50) leaps above the net to block the spike attempt from Chateaugay’s Savannah Fiorino (33), earning a point late in the first set to give the Rocks a 22-21 edge. Salmon River rallied from nine points behind to capture the first set 26-24.  The teams split the next two sets by 25-21 scores.  Then Salmon River closed out the win, 25-18, to defeat Chateaugay 3-1 and advance to the overall championship. Chateaugay’s Grace Harrigan (22) leaps at the net to reject the shot from Salmon River’s Brittany Brooks (32), scoring a point late in the second set.  For Chateaugay (16-3), Kim Reville tallied 10 points and 10 kills, while Grace Harrigan chipped in 20 assists and six kills.

Massena Wins Overall title past salmon river 3-1


Massena’s Sabrina Sunday (25) fires the ball past Salmon River’s Tristan Cook-Hasty (47) to earn a point early in the first set to break the 6-6 tie. Salmon River’s Mara Lazore (50) drives the ball past Massena’s Alyssa Eubank (24) to earn a point midway through the first set.  Massena defeated Salmon River 26-24, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22 to win the overall Section X volleyball championship. Tatum LaFrance tallied 19 service points and 33 assists for the Raiders, while Sabrina Sunday collected 10 service points and eight kills. Alyssa Eubank contributed seven kills, while Jackie Lamica and Nina Rourke scored five kills each. Tianna Beck lifted 28 digs. Salmon River was led by Raven Oakes with 25 service points, 39 assists and two kills.  Brittany Brooks added 15 service points, 24 kills and two aces.  Lazore chipped in 13 service points, six blocks and six kills, while Tristan Cook-Hasty recorded 17 service points and four blocks for the Shamrocks.

MASSENA FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON IN N.Y. QUARTERFINAL

In a matchup of unbeatens, Hudson Falls outlasted Massena 25-18 in the first set, but the Red Raiders fell away 25-5 and 25-5 in a three-set sweep in the New York State Class B quarterfinal at SUNY Canton. Hudson Falls improved to 19-0, while Massena closed its season at 19-1 with a Section X Class B title and overall Section X championship.

SALMON RIVER BLANKS O.F.A. TO WIN "C" CHAMPIONSHIP

OGDENSBURG SHUTS OUT CANTON 3-0 IN SEMIFINALS

OGDENSBURG 3, CANTON 0
Ogdensburg’s Taylor Perry delivered 17 service points, including nine aces, five assists, three digs and seven kills, to power the second-seeded Ogdensburg Blue Devils to a 25-8, 26-24, 25-16 victory over #3-seeded Canton in the Section X Class C semifinals. Adrianha Parks chipped in nine points and six aces, while Chelsea Raven contributed nine points, four aces and six assists. Shelby Adams scored four points, two kills and an ace. Kelsi Donaldson had three kills, one block and one dig, with Paige McCormick contributing four blocks, three kills and two assists. Ogdensburg will face top-seeded Salmon River in the final. Maria Sergi scored eight points for Canton, which closed out its season at 3-14.

Section II’s Broadalbin-Perth swept Section X representative Salmon River in three sets in a 25-13, 25-20, 25-12 victory in the New York State Class C quarterfinal at SUNY Canton. After dropping the first set, the Shamrocks’ best shot at victory came in the second set when they took a 12-5 lead, but could not sustain the momentum after a Patriots’ timeout. Broadalbin-Perth outscored the Rocks 20-8 to close out the second set. Mara Lazore and Fawn Jacobs each recorded six service points, while Lazore added two kills and Raven Oakes nine assists for Salmon River that closed its season at 15-6 overall. Said Coach Nicole Deshaies, “The girls played hard and never gave up! I’m a proud coach today!”

Potsdam Advances to Final Past Lumberjacks 3-1

A Tupper Lake attacker spikes the ball past Potsdam’s Camryn Mangual (7) to score a point in the first set to chip away at the Sandstoners lead. The Sandstoners earned the 3-1 victory over Tupper Lake to advance to the Section X Class D Championships where they will meet the #1 Seed Chateaugay Bulldogs on Tuesday, November 3rd at SUNY Canton at 5:30pm. The Tupper Lake Lumberjacks close out the 2015 season with an overall record of 10-8.

MAYFIELD 3, CHATEAUGAY 1
Section X champion Chateaugay captured the a close first set 25-22 and had a chance to gain a two-set advantage, but Section II representative Mayfield rallied to edge the Bulldogs 25-23 in the second set in the New York State Class D quarterfinal at SUNY Canton. The Panthers went on to defeat Chateaugay 25-14 and 25-17 to close out a 3-1 victory. The Bulldogs closed out their season at 16-3 overall.

B-m panthers upset yellow jackets 3-1 IN OPENING RD.


Brushton-Moira’s Kalista Malette (9) sets the ball over Madrid-Waddington’s Breanna Bouchey (28) to earn a point midway through the second set. The Panthers pounced on the Yellow Jackets quickly taking a 2-0 lead.  Madrid-Waddington claimed the victory in the third set, looking for a comeback.  However, Brushton-Moira turned back the rally, defeating the Yellow Jackets in an upset 3-1 in the Section X Class D opening round. The Panthers took early victories in the matchup capturing the first set 25-18 and winning the second set 25-20. The Yellow Jackets narrowly won the third set 25-22 trying to stage a comeback.  However, Brushton-Moira dominated the fourth and final set 25-11 win and an overall victory 3-1. The Panthers now advance to the Section X Class D semifinals on Thursday to meet the #1-seeded Chateaugay Bulldogs at 5pm. The Yellow Jackets closed out the 2015 season recording an overall record of 7-9.
