HEUVELTON SWEEPS TO STAY EVEN WITH PIRATES IN WEST


Lisbon's Aleashia Parmeter (3) is tagged out at second base on an attempted steal against Heuvelton.  In Split doubleheader action, the Bulldogs improved to 12-1 in the west Division with a 10-1 win over Lisbon in the first game, then beat Clifton-Fine 12-5 in the second game.  The win kept the Bulldogs even with Harrisville (12-1)who completed a doubleheader sweep over Hammond to stay tied in first place atop the West Division.

Heuvelton pitcher Sarah Sloan dishes to be plate while a Lisbon runner revs up at second base. Sloan scattered six hits and recorded five strikeouts and offensively contributed a double in the Bulldogs win. Kari Terwilliger added two doubles and three RBIs.
 

CLIFTON-FINE DOUBLES UP MORRISTOWN 16-8 IN WEST

Clifton-Fine's Emily Lachut gets tagged out at first base after a throw that pulled the Rockets' first baseman off the bag.  Clifton-Fine fended off a four-run, fifth-inning rally from the Rockets with a run-scoring offense in every inning. Lachut powered three hits including a double, while Ashley White delivered two extra-base hits in the Clifton-Fine win. Also with two hits were Olivia Langevin and Nicole Aldrich.

LARRIES POLISH 14-0 REGULAR SEASON FINISH VS. BULLDOGS

POTSDAM SWEEPS TWINBILL OVER TUPPER LAKE 6-4, 7-2

Tupper Lake pitcher St. Louis whips a pitch in for a strike.  Potsdam pitcher Whitney Shatraw delivered a two-hitter in Game #2 after a seven-strikeout performance in Game #1 as the Sandstoners swept the Lumberjacks. Kiana McDonough led the Potsdam offense with two hits to win the opener. Tupper had two-hit games from Hunter Aldridge and Skyler Trivieri.

E-K COUGARS SURVIVE LATE HAMMOND RALLY 12-11


Hammond first baseman Cortney Whalen stretches to snare the ball for the out at first.  After falling behind 10-0 in the first inning, Hammond plated a run in the second, four in the fourth, another in the fifth inning, then took the lead with five more runs in the sixth. The Cougars scraped up a run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to force extra innings, before gaining the win on a walkoff error in the bottom of the extra frame.

Edwards-Knox's Kalylee Hartley (1) delivers a pitch to the plate against Hammond.  Hartley and Mercedes Mackin combined to strike out 11 Red Devils. Hartley also had three hits, while Kamrie Dandrow added two hits. Brianna Langtry had three hits including a triple in guiding the Devils to a lead in the 6th.
 

CLIFTON-FINE RALLIES IN LATE INNINGS TO BE BEAT COUGARS


Edwards-Knox's Kamrie Dandrow (12) throws to first base, but on the play a Clifton-Fine runner scampers home for a run.  After building a 10-0 lead and barely surviving a huge Hammond comeback to win 12-11 in extra innings in Game #1, Edwards-Knox built a 7-1 lead against Clifton-Fine in Game #2 but could not survive the Eagles' late rally..  Clifton-Fine captured the nightcap 11-7 in a split twinbill at Edwards-Knox on Friday.  (Eric Foote photo)   Game Gallery

The Clifton-Fine centerfielder makes a diving catch in the fourth inning.  Emily Lachut rapped two hits to lead the Eagles I the comeback win. E-K’s Kaylee Hartley had a pair of doubles and a single for the Cougars, while Jenna Fountain and Kamrie Dandrow each hd a single and a double.
 

CHATEAUGAY UPENDS M-W JACKETS IN 18-8 EAST VICTORY


The Chateaugay Bulldogs advanced to third place in the East Division with an 18-8 win over Madrid-Waddington.  Hannah Cook had three hits and three RBIs in the Bulldogs win.

Tack on three hits each for Abby Barnes, Ashley Legacy and Courtney Boyea and the Bulldogs romped 18-8. Boyea was the winning pitcher while striking out nine. ST. LAWRENCE WINS 2 TIGHT GAMES VS. BRUSHTON-MOIRA


St. Lawrence catcher Angellina Sebring just gets the tag down on Brushton-Moira's Sandra Martin (15) only a foot before reaching home plate after a wild pitch.  Brushton-Moira broke a 1-1 tie with a single run in the top of the fifth, but the Larries countered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to slip past the Panthers 3-2 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Larries third baseman Shelby Hollenback readies for the pitch while B-M's Sandra Martin gets set to lead from the bag.  In Game #1, Lindsey Thayer fanned 10 Panthers and belted a two-RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to put the Larries on top for good. Brandi Thomas and Noelle Rufa also contributed two hits each. In Game #2, the Panthers battled back from
St. Lawrence’s six-run, second-inning outburst to tie the game in the fourth, but the Larries rallied for two runs in the fifth to insure the win. Shakiah Robertson spanked two hits for the Larries. Meghan Follett had two hits and two RBIs for the B-M.
 

MARSHALL LEADS MALONE WIN DOUBLING TUPPER LAKE 10-5


A Tupper Lake runner slides in and kicks the ball loose at the plate against Malone catcher Brittany Fountain (32). Malone's Brittany Marshall had three hits and stole three bases, including home plate in the second inning, leading the Huskies to a 10-5 win over Tupper Lake.  The Huskies improved to 6-5.

C-P COLTS RALLY TWICE, BUT SPLIT WITH SALMON RIVER

BLUE DEVILS SALVAGE SPLIT WITH WILDCATS ON WALKOFF


A Gouverneur runner is out by a step at first base during Thursday's game at Ogdensburg. Miscommunication led to the collision of two Gouverneur players on this dropped infield pop-up.  In the other game, Nictoria Bates slammed a three-run homer to set the tone in the first inning as the Wildcats jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead. Lindsey Jesmer also belted a round-tripper for the Cats.

P-H PANTHERS SURPRISE CHATEAUGAY WITH SWEEP

A look at the ground-out play to first base from behind Parishville-Hopkinton third baseman Jena Jacot (12).  Game #2 was almost a repeat of the opener with Coventry tossing an eight-hitter in the Panther sweep.  Jacot slammed a homerun while Stephanie Toumey smacked a double. Chateaugay’s Courtney Boyea suffered the loss on both ends of the twinbill.
 

CANTON'S WENTWORTH DEALS PERFECT GAME VS. TUPPER

May 12: Canton senior Kacie Wentworth hurled a perfect game and her third no hitter in the past week in a 22-0, five-inning whitewash of the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks. Wentworth fanned 10 of the 15 batters she faced as the Bears improved to 9-0 , 12-1 overall. She also aided her own cause with three hits and four RBIs. Emily Rexford and Kara Locy also drilled four hits and knocked in three runs each for the Bears.
 

GOTHAM ONE-HITTER LEADS TO WILDCATS SPLIT VS. POTSDAM

But the Sandstoners’ bats came alive in Game #2 with a 20-5 rout and a split. Potsdam rapped 16 hits in the nightcap, including three hits for Kiana McDonough and two hits each for Eirca Mallet and Sarah Choon.
 

WENTWORTH FIRES ANOTHER NO-NO TO BEAT OGDENSBURG

May 10: Canton hurler Kacie Wentworth added another no-hitter to her repertoire in a 20-0 romp past Ogdensburg. Wentworth suck out nine Bule Devils, while contributing two doubles and four RBIs to the offense. Sarah Elliott slamed four hits, while Kara Locey (3RBIs) and Mackenzie Lennox (4 RBIs) rapped three hits each for the winners.

WENTWORTH FIRES NO-HITTER CANTON BEATS POTSDAM 15-0

CHATEAUGAY SQUEEZES OUT WIN VS. COLTON-PIERREPONT

Chateaugay pitcher Courtney Boyea fields the ball to her right and throws out the Colton-Pierrepont runner at first base.  Boyea fanned seven Colts, while Stephanie Whyte rapped two hits for the Bulldogs in the win. Brianna Beaulieu struck out nine Bulldogs in a nail-biting loss for the Colts. Taylor Bonno and Andrea Aldous each had two hits. After Chateauguay gained the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth, the Colts tied the game in the top of the seventh when Brooke Baker stroked an RBI single. Chateaugay captured the win in the bottom of the final frame when all four batters in the inning reached base, culminating when Abby Barnes stroked an RBI single to plate Carolyn White for the walkoff win.
 

HEUVELTON RALLY TURNS BACK UPSET-MINDED LISBON

Heuvelton second baseman tags out Lisbon's Jen Lassail (12) on a steal attempt from first.  Heuvelton pitcher Sara Sloan set down nine Lisbon batters on strikes while gaining the five-hit win.  Lisbon took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bulldogs chipped away with single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings for the win.  Alexis Sawyer scampered home with the game-winning run in the sixth on an infield fielder's choice.
 

MASSENA BEATS OGDENSBURG ON WALK-OFF WILD PITCH 4-3

BEHIND STREETER'S PITCHING


Massena pitcher Sierra Streeter (23) bears down in her windup to the plate. After Malone jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, the Red Raiders tallied two runs in the bottom of the inning, scratched for another run in the third, then rallied for five runs in the fourth inning to take an 8-3 lead. Malone’s comeback attempt included two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth, before Streeter shut down the Huskies the rest of the way, as the Raiders polished off an 8-6 victory. Malone's Brittany Marshall throws to first after touching second to turn a double play.  Ashley Hawn had two hits for Massena who improved to 3-0 , 4-1 overall. Sarah Lamica had a game-best three hits for Malone who fell to 0-3.
 

WENTWORTH STRIKES OUT 14 AS CANTON BEATS MALONE 6-1

A Malone outfielder makes an outstanding grab over the fence to rob a possible homerun on a centerfield line drive.  Wentworth also had two hits, an RBI and a run scored to id her own cause. Emily Rexford had a key two-RBI single during the key four-run third inning. Sam Brown also doubled. For Malone, Brittany Marshall had two hits and scored the only run for the Huskies on an RBI single from Sarah Lamica.

MADRID-WADDINGTON CRUISES PAST ST. REGIS FALLS 13-4


A St. Regis Falls base runner slides, reaches for the toe-touch at home plate and was called safe on a play during Friday's East Division game at Madrid-Waddington.  Olivia Blackmore laced three singles and Angie Beldock tagged two hits in the Jackets’ 13-4 win over St. Regis Falls (1-2). Madrid-Waddington’s first baseman makes a nice snag on a throw in the dirt, but not in time to catch the Saints runner.  Brittany Rondeau collected three hits to lead the Saints.
 

O.F.A. CAPTURES SEASON OPENER BEATING FLYERS 7-5


Norwood-Norfolk's Carlea Weaver slides safely home as Ogdensburg pitcher Makenzi Stevenson tries to apply the tag in Wednesday's game.   Stevenson earned the mound win while striking out seven and contributing two hits at the plate leading the Blue Devils to a 7-5 win in their season opener. Stacey Barr also smacked two hits for Ogdensburg.

CANTON HOLDS ON FOR 4-3 WIN OVER UPSTART GOUVERNEUR

Gouverneur's first baseman tags up with first base just in time to get Canton's MacKenzie Lennox out. Canton’s Kacie Wentworth scattered three hits and struck out 14 Wildcats en route to the one-run victory. Golden Bears Sam Brown had two hits, while Sara Elliott produced the game-winning hit in the bottom of the fourth when she singled home Kaeli Mace. Lindsey Jesmer led Gouverneur with a triple and an RBI double.
 

MASSENA DELIVERS OPENING DAY 6-1 WIN VS. POTSDAM

Carolyn Stumpf bounced in infield ground out for a fielder's choice that produced the winning run. Shelby Coleman led the Bulldogs with two hits. Sandra Martin and Emily O'Connor each doubled for Brushton-Moira.
