The Raiders bounced out to a 4-0 lead, then had
to fight back from a 16-11 deficit to tie the first set
at 17-all. Clutch points down the stretch provided the
Trojans with a 25-19 win in the first set. The Raiders'
intensity picked up in the second set, moving out to a
13-7 lead and grabbing a 25-17 victory. The momentum
shifted midway through the third set with Homer pulling
out a 25 - 18 win. Massena dominated the fourth set,
leading by as much as nine points, and winning 25-18. In
the 5th and deciding set, the teams were square at 6-6,
but Homer outdueled Massena 9- 4 in the final stretch
for a 15- 11win -- 3 sets to 2 -- and a birth in New
York State Regional final on Saturday. For Massena,
Kaniehtentha Thompson 14 kills, 2 blocks, 8 service
points, 2 aces. Arianna Scruton 7 kills, 2 blocks,
6 service points, 2 aces. Madden Herne 16 service
points, 1 ace, 13 assists. Reannon Lazore 6
service points, 2 aces 4 kills, 13 assists.
Samantha Gowing 8 kills, 8 service points. Nylah
Tillman 2 service points, 1 ace. Abigail LaBarge 3
service points, 1 ace. Kyra Collins 1 kill, 1 service

Massena wins the Section X Class A Championship 3-0.

Massena, putting its undefeated season on the line,
jumped to a 7-2 lead in the first set, only to have the
Huskies bounce back and tie at 7-7. However, the Raiders
took command, and finished the first set winning 25-20.
Massena captured the second set with a convincing 25-17
victory. The Huskies clawed their way to a brief lead in
the third set, before falling 26-24 in a razor close
final. Massena wins the Section X Class A Championship
3-0. For Massena: Reannon Lazore 12 service points, 3
aces, 9 assists; Arianna Scruton 13 service points, 5
aces, 7 kills, 2 blocks; Nylah Tillman 13 service
points, 3 aces, 1 kill; Kaniehtentha Thompson 4 service
points, 2 aces, 10 kills, 3 blocks; Madden Herne 7
assists, 2 kills; Samantha Gowing 3 service points, 2
aces, 2 kills. For Malone: Addison Gokey paced the
Huskies with 14 kills, three digs, three blocks and one
ace. Cali Lane contributed 12 assists and four digs,
McKaylee Major produced 4 kills, 9 digs and one ace.
Justine Miletick pitched in 17 digs and two aces.

Coach for Salmon River: We had some major lineup shifts
in the last week prior to playoffs. We ended up pulling
up 4 JV girls for the game. The whole team, including
the new additions, stepped up and played phenomenally
and I'm proud of everyone.

OGDENSBURG 3, POTSDAM 0
The Blue Devils jumped out to an early 8-1 lead in the
first set catapulting them to a 25- 16 win over Potsdam.
OFA quickly took command in the second set with an early
10-2 lead. Potsdam rallied back to within four points,
17-13, before the Blue Devils closed out a 25-18 win.
OFA opened the third set on an 8-0 start, capitalizing
on a strong service run. Potsdam climbed to within
21-19, before falling 25-19 in the decisive set. The
Blue Devils claimed the Section X Class B title over
Potsdam in a 3-0 sweep. For OFA: Stats coming shortly.
Potsdam was led by Jasmine McKnight 1 block, 1 ace, 3
kills; Shayne Kennedy 1 kill, 3 aces; Charlotte Fiske 1
kill, 2 aces.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a strong start, leading most of the first set, by as much as seven points, en route to a 25-21 win. Lake Placid gained momentum in the second set, bouncing out to a 13-7 lead, before the Yellow Jackets recovered. Madrid-Waddington tied the second set 16-16. Then at 18-18, the Jackets ran off the final seven straight points to win 25-18. Lake Placid dropped in early 16-6 bomb on Madrid-Waddington to start the third set. The yellow jackets fought back to within three points at 17-14, but could not recover, falling 25-17. M-W dominated the fourth set, jumping to leads of 10-3 and 20-11. On the final point, after a brief wait for the official signal, the Jackets secured a 25-15 win and berth in the New York State Class C regional final on Saturday. Senior captains Keianna Webb and Maddy VanGorden, paced the Jackets. Webb handled the hits to the back row, while VanGorden provided dominant hitting with 12 kills at the net. After Madrid-Waddington won the
first set 25-21. Canton captured the second set 25-17. In
the third set, the Golden Bears bounced back from a 19-10
deficit to score 11 of the next 13 points and leading to a
25-22 win. In Set 4, the Yellow Jackets rallied from a
six-point hole to win 25-23, setting up a decisive fifth
set. In the seesaw final, Madrid surged back from a 12-8
deficit and won 15-13 to capture the Section X Class C
championship. MW Coach; Senior Captains Libero, Keianna
Webb, and senior Mady VanGordan. Keianna was able to dig
many of the powerful hits Canton put down, as she led the
defensive effort. VanGordan had some great kills and led the
offense with her hitting. Junior Evie Losey played a solid
middle as she put down many of Canton’s hits. Two sophomores
that were pulled up from JVs 5 games ago deserve honorable
mention. Carlie Danussi played a middle and Chyeanna
Brothers played a great passing game in the back row. Senior
OH Raven Ordway and junior Hope Dykes also had big plays in
the last two sets as well. Our record was only 6-10, but I
feel we are peaking at the right time, and playing with a
better team mentality. This is our third section 10 class C
championship in a row.” For Canton: Elle White-9 kills, 13
digs, 12 points, 4 aces. Delia Gaurin- 30 kills, 3 blocks, 7
digs. Zoey Zebedee-28 assists, 6 points, 3 aces. Claire
Polniak- 11 points 7 digs.

CHATEAUGAY 3, TUPPER LAKE 1
In Set 1, The Bulldogs got things off to a strong start
earning a 25-17 set win. After trailing the Lumberjacks
11-9 in the second set, Chateaugay surged scoring seven
unanswered points en route to a 25-20 win. The
Lumberjacks rallied in Set 3. to an 18-13 lead. Despite
a comeback attempt by the Bulldogs, Tupper Lake held om
25-20 to keep the match going down. But in Set 4,
Chateaugay lit up the scoreboard quickly, jumping to aa
7-0 lead and kept the pressure going for a 25-7 romp to
capture the Section X Class D Championship with a 3-1
match win. For the Bukkdogs: Vanessa Titus provided 12
points, 3 aces, 17 kills, 1 block. Torie Patterson - 8
points, 1 ace, 36 assists. Sophie Converse - 14 points,
2 aces, 6 kills. Lexis Sutton - 11 points, 3 aces, 5
kills. Jaedyn Yelle - 3 points, 15 kills, 2 blocks.
Hailey Reome and Sadie Gero played amazing defense! For
Tupper Lake: Maddie Arey had 3 blocks. Bela Verde had 15
kills. Lacey Tarbox had 10 kills. Lacey Pickering had 33
assists. TL Coach: We missed more aces than I would have
liked, especially since our first 3 games were close and
serving played a part in those. We made some incredible
digs defensively. We prepared for this game and executed
our game plan. We knew what our goals were offensively
and defensively and I thought we did a nice job of
accomplishing that.
